Swimming in World Class Swimming Pools
VenuesWest Challenge Stadium has world class swimming facilities and is considered to be one of the best aquatic swimming venues in the southern hemisphere.
The swimming facilities consist of:
Indoor Pools
- 50 meter 8 lane Swimming Pool
- Diving Pool
- Water Polo Pool
Outdoor Pools
- 50 meter 8 lane swimming pool
- 50 meter 10 lane swimming pool
- Water Polo Pool
All swimming lanes are protected by “wash proof” lane ropes which allow swimmers to swim in ”quiet” water.
The Geothermal heating system ensures the pools are heated to 27ºC all year round and heats the water for change room showers.
As a world class swimming facility VenuesWest Challenge Stadium was the host venue for the sixth and eighth World Swimming Championships in 1991 and 1998 and the FINA World Masters Championships in 2008.
Today we continue to provide world class facilities and host many aquatic events. We also provide a valuable service to the community including local schools, elite swimmers, diving and water polo squads and recreational swimmers.
